Our minister, Rev.Rob Cotton, led our worship last Sunday beginning with a rousing hymn, To God be the glory, great things he hath done, followed by prayers of contrition and thanks to a loving God. Rob then told the children a funny story. After our second hymn, Be still for the presence of the Lord is moving in this place, the children withdrew for their own activities.
Neil & Jill Barnett read to us from 2 Timothy 3-4, last instructions to the early church, & from Acts 2, a description of the practices of the first Christian church. Rob then examined the elements of a Kingdom community and a long term vision for social change through action ministry. Such a community must study the Bible and apply its lessons to life, be a loving fellowship caring deeply for one another as a family, worshipping prayerfully and whole heartedly seeking God’s will in unity, being generous and outward looking. Rob urged us to invest lovingly in our community and expect miracles.
After prayers for our sick friends and for world peace Rob’s theme was brought together in our final hymn: I cannot tell…how all the lands shall worship… but this I know…when all the hearts of men with love are filled…at last the Saviour of the world is King.
