Trust was the theme last Sunday. After our opening hymn, Holy, holy, holy, Michael Shingler led prayers of thanks and praise, seeking forgiveness for the abuse of our planet. He showed us how to make a wrist band of life from three strands of wool – white, black and gold, representing life, the world and God. We go through times when black and gold alternate their influence but ultimately only we and God continue to eternity.

Norma Buckley read to us from Exodus 4: Moses is reluctant to obey God’s calling. Sue Fox read from John 21: three times Jesus asks Peter if he loves him and commands him to care for his sheep.

After prayers for compassion in strife ridden Gaza, Ukraine and Sudan and for respect for our environment Mike talked of trusting God when we pray. Moses overcame his feelings of inadequacy trusting God to provide him with the means to carry out his mission and Aaron was sent to assist him. Having betrayed him at the time of his crucifixion Jesus helped Peter to make amends then trusted him to continue his work. Mike urged churches to go out to deliver that message of love, healing and life trusting in God to empower us.
