Last Sunday Rev. Roger Baker began our worship by thanking God for all the good things in our lives. Prayers of thanks and confession followed our opening hymn, Holy Holy Holy Lord God Almighty, accompanied by Rod Smith. Gerry Maxwell read to us from John 14 and Roger prayed for a hurting world, the hungry and homeless, for world leaders and for those in need known to us.

Continuing his series of sermons on the Holy Spirit Roger examined his primary work. The Holy Spirit is the agent of new creation, making us alive to God, born again to a new life. He convicts us of sin through our consciences. He offers wise counsel helping us to understand Scripture, to conform to God’s purpose by prompting us to choose His way. We give glory to God through the changes the Spirit brings about. Reflecting who he is in our lives exalts God and his love for us.

Roger prayed for the Holy Spirit to transform our lives and then served Holy Communion assisted by Jill Harrison. We sang Born by the Holy Spirit’s breath and Roger ended our worship with a blessing.
