Preacher Robin Perry called us to worship with words from Philippians 2, to honour the name of Jesus by adopting his attitudes. After a video cartoon of the widow’s mite the children left for their own activities.
We were asked to consider what God gave to us, Jesus, and what we can give back. Gerry & Margaret Maxwell read from Luke 2 and Matthew 25, the widow who gave her all and the righteous who serve Jesus by serving others.
Giving is part of the Christian discipleship journey. We can all give our money, skills, time and/or resources. A church needs money to live. We give to meet a practical need and also in love as evidence of our faith. Faith needs action to be worthy. God sent Jesus when he saw the need for reconciliation. Our circuit is on the brink of a new chapter and all must consider what they can give whatever they can to support it. We should seek through prayer what God is calling us to give.
After prayers for our churches and new minister we sang “Take my life and let it be consecrated, Lord, to Thee” followed by prayers for our suffering world, our nation and personal concerns. Our service ended with Charles Wesley’s hymn “Give me the faith which can remove and sink the mountain to a plain” followed by the Grace.
