Last Sunday was a special service to welcome those joining membership of our church.  It began poignantly with prayers for Gerry Maxwell who died suddenly last Friday.  Rev. Rob Cotton welcomed Doug Newton and Anthony Deere into membership.  Using responses from the Baptism liturgy the congregation pledged to support them in their Christian journey.

Rob invited Harriet & Lucy to enter a race to stack and dismantle a pyramid of cups.  He showed how removing just one from the stack caused all to collapse.  We all have different and vital roles in our church family.  After prayers the children left to pursue their junior church activities.

Neil read to us from 1 Corinthians 12 – the body of Christ where each part has a distinct role to play in enabling effective function.  Being content with our current situation is not sufficient.  We must build on what we have working together to grow in faith and love, encouraging others to join with us.

After our service we met together for a celebration lunch kindly provided at the Peel Arms.
