Last Sunday we welcomed our preacher Robert Williams who began our worship with Psalm 95. After prayers for world peace, spiritual guidance for its leaders and support for the victims and rescuers following the Venezuela earthquakes Robert reflected on our Bible readings – the opening chapters of Peter’s first letter.
For the early Christians, as for us, the church is a precious cornerstone and prayer is a lifeline. We are called to be God’s people and to share his all embracing love with others. The church community provides support, learning together, satisfying spiritual hunger. We must try to live holy lives with prayer, our connection to God, encompassing all we do. Jesus is always available and everyone is precious to him. The cup of salvation is for the whole world.
Robert gave us time to consider how this applied to ourselves personally before we sang Charles Wesley’s hymn: Pray without ceasing. Then we shared the Grace together.
