We began our worship last Sunday by singing What a friend we have in Jesus and The Lord’s
Prayer. Rev Rob Cotton told the children an amusing story of a little boy whose prayer to have a
cat was answered when a cat landed in his garden by accident. After the children moved out for
their own activities Jill read to us from James 5 – the power of prayer; Neil read from 2 Chronicles
7 – the Lord appears to Solomon.
Rev Rob’s theme was prayerobics, examining our prayer life. IF we answer God’s call he will
hear our prayers and respond. We must be humble, unselfish, watching out for false pride. We need
to seek his face, be still and listen. Prayer is answered. Knowing that others are praying for you
makes a difference. We must repent of former ways, making a radical change, starting a wholly
new life. God never gives up. He brings much needed healing.
Rev Rob served Holy Communion following the service for renewal . He prayed for healing those
known to us who are ill or grieving. Ron Lucas asked for a blessing on Rob and those from Market
Drayton who will visit our link church in Petrosani, Romania, this week. Our service concluded
with a blessing.
