Last Sunday Rev. Roger Baker concluded his series of services based on Paul’s letter to the
Philippians. In chapter 4, read to us by Keith, Paul urges us to stand firm in faith and witness in the
peace of Christ. We must strive to be reconciled in our relationships showing gentleness to each
other. Unity is possible when we choose to be attuned to the love of God and obey Christ’s
teaching. We must guard our hearts not letting anxiety rule us; ask God for help and trust him to
lead us. He longs to help us and his peace will protect us when we take our cares to him in prayer
and focus on his loving purpose and empowerment. We have to discipline our minds thinking only
of what is true and wholesome avoiding negative and destructive thoughts. Such practices will be
rewarded with the peace of God when we seek his guidance.
Roger led our reflections as we repeated a Taizé chant “In the Lord I’ll be forever thankful” and
then he served Holy Communion assisted by Jill. Our worship concluded with a hymn, Fight the
good fight, and Roger’s blessing.
