Last Sunday we celebrated our Harvest Festival and Junior Church Anniversary. As we sang Come,
ye thankful people, come the children brought in their harvest contributions. God made everything
starting with light which fractures into many colours. He filled our world with colour as a gift to us.
We sang If I were a butterfly and Who put the colours in the rainbow. Then Penelope, Poppy, Lucy
and Emma read prayers of thanks for our beautiful world, plentiful food and the seasons, all
showing the love of God. Ellie, Harriet, Emma and Poppy spelled HARVEST attributing God’s
gifts to each letter ending with Thank you and Penelope played a piano solo.
Guy read to us from Matthew 13 and 25, parables of sowing seed and using our talents. Rev. Rob
Cotton spoke about a harvest of talents. God praises those who make the most of their talents. We
can achieve this through prayer for those in need, by determining our priorities cutting out non
productive practices. Even small efforts are effective. Make giving of our best our purpose. Our
service concluded with the hymn God is love, let Heaven adore him.
