Last Sunday our minister, Rev. Rob Cotton, followed the Methodist Service Book liturgy for
Pentecost. Our musicians Neil & Jill Barnett read to us from 2 Corinthians 13 (strive for
perfection … and the God of love and peace will be with you) and Matthew 28 (the great
commission).
Rob’s theme was “sending out.” He recounted how his retirement plans were totally altered when
he was asked to come to the aid of our circuit. He and his wife Carol felt moved to answer this call
from God. Just as God had not finished with them the same applies to us as individuals and as a
church. He has plans for us all to spread the good news of the gospel and to care for those around
us. We sang Just as I am … O Lamb of God I come and Rob invited us all to partake of Holy
Communion.
Next week there will not be a service at Ashley Methodist Church. We shall all be at Tern Hill Hall
for a Big Family Gathering to which everyone in our neighbourhood is invited for worship followed
by family entertainment, games, stalls, a picnic and lots of fun. Free tickets can be obtained from
