Rev. Rob Cotton’s theme last Sunday was Cinderella with amnesia! Bunty read from John 14, the
promise of the Holy Spirit. Rob’s text, read by Sue, was Acts 12 where Peter is rescued from prison
by an angel while his church prays for him. Like Cinderella Christians have been lifted from
drudgery into a richer life by being Jesus’ people. Yet we tend to forget this and can be
overwhelmed by life’s difficulties. When Peter was rescued from prison by an angel he didn’t
recognise the work of God; nor did his church for when he knocked on their door they assumed he
was an illusion. We are not exempt from life’s problems. Christian life is hard work but when we
remember that we are in Christ who loves us we recognise that he wants to release us from our
difficulties. We need to wake up to what God is doing all around us. Like Cinderella we shall get
to the ball.

Rob served Holy Communion to us all assisted by Jill and we sang Your hand, O God, has guided
your flock before Rob gave us his blessing.
