On the 5th Sunday in Lent a whip was placed on our Cross symbolising Jesus being chastised by his captors.

Beginning with words from Psalm 104, Praise the Lord, O my soul, Robin Perry reflected on his theme, a journey with Jesus, with hymns, prayers and readings from The Message interpretation of the Bible. Ros read from Psalm 139 – God knows us completely. Robin sang his own composition, Born to worship.

St Paul often describes the Christian life as a race. Like dedicated athletes we strive to achieve the prize through discipline, prayer, Scripture and support from others as described in Philippians 3 read by Guy. Throughout life we are learning. Jesus gave up his glory to put us back on track, rejoicing in the return of every sinner.

After we sang Amazing grace, accompanied by Neil and Jill Barnett, Jill read the well known passage by M.F. Powers, “Footprints,” which portrays how God carries us through difficult times. Robin prayed for people undergoing distressing times. Neil read from 2 Timothy 4 where Paul describes completion of our journey focussed on Jesus and our duty to pass on his gospel message. We sang Love divine which includes the words “Finish then Thy new creation, pure and spotless let us be,” and we shared the Grace.
