We were blessed by a second week with Robert Williams as our preacher. Rod Smith played the organ. Robert followed last week’s theme of calling all believers to put their faith in Christ with readings from Acts 2, Peter’s great description of the Christian faith, and 1 Peter 2, his first letter to the early churches, read by Gerry and Margaret Maxwell.

The Messiah has come. He will not solve our problems but will give us strength to handle them. By accepting him we are saved from the consequences of our sin. Prayer is our lifeline whereby he feeds our spiritual hunger. Through prayer, together and individually, and in service to others our spiritual needs are satisfied as we grow closer to Jesus. For some Jesus is the cornerstone; for others a stumbling block. God’s love is so great that he made it possible through Jesus for all to receive in this way.

In prayer Robert acknowledged God’s great love and creative power. He prayed for peace in the places of conflict in our world and for healing for those who are ill. Finally we shared the Grace together.
